Challenge

The world’s leading natural-based chemicals producer and largest oleochemical manufacturer in North America was investing $175 million in a biorefinery expansion project to strengthen the company’s position as a specialty solutions provider. This company has been operating in Ohio for 176 years, dating back to 1840 when it was founded as a candle company.

Approach

LNE Group worked with the client to shape and package the R&D and capital expansion project to maximize its impact on state and local government economic development priorities and alignment with client business objectives. LNE Group promoted the project to numerous State and local officials and negotiated to secure an incentives package that made the project possible.

Result

LNE Group secured a package of state, county, and local government incentives worth more than $30 million. The client constructed a state-of-the-art plant to produce high-performance bio-based polyol products suited for industries such as automotive, furniture, appliances, construction and coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers. The new plant will also manufacture renewable-based products for bio-lubricants, green polymers and bio-pesticides applications. The project created over 50 high-skilled jobs in the area of chemical processing and R&D.
