Government Relations
Advancing client priorities before Congress, state legislatures, municipalities, and government agencies.
When government decisions affect your organization, we help you shape the outcome.
LNE Group helps companies, associations, institutions, nonprofits, and local governments navigate legislation, regulation, tax policy, public budgets, and agency decisions.
Our government relations teams work in Ohio, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C., combining local relationships with policy research, strategy planning, and coordinated advocacy. When an issue crosses jurisdictions or requires expertise beyond traditional lobbying, we bring in colleagues from our public funding, strategic advisory, business development, and public affairs practices.

Understanding the decision and how to engage
Clients usually come to us because a government decision will affect their organization, market, members, or plans. We help them understand who is making the decision, what is driving it, and how best to engage.
- 01
Shape legislation and regulation
We develop and execute strategies around legislation, rulemaking, tax policy, and regulatory issues, helping clients make their case to legislators, staff, executive agencies, and other decision-makers.
- 02
Navigate budgets and public policy
We help clients engage around state and federal budgets, appropriations, capital priorities, agency programs, and other policy decisions that can materially affect projects and organizations.
- 03
Build support
Many issues require more than direct advocacy. We help identify stakeholders, develop coalitions, prepare testimony and policy materials, coordinate outreach, and build broader support around a client's position.
- 04
Understand what comes next
Government processes can be opaque, even when stakeholders and decision-makers share the same broad goals. We help translate between them, providing clear intelligence on where an issue stands, who matters, what has changed, and what needs to happen next.
The LNE Group team understands government at all levels, they're always trustworthy and follow through on their word, and they deliver measurable results.

Tariff relief since 2018
LNE Group launched its Trade Actions practice in 2018, when the first Trump Administration imposed tariffs on U.S. imports under Section 301 and Section 232. The Executive Branch established a formal tariff exclusion process that year and has issued rounds of exclusions, amendments, and extensions since.
Tariffs remain a central pillar of the federal government's America First economic agenda. LNE Group has secured tariff relief and regulatory licensing valued at approximately $10 million for clients across the U.S. supply chain.

Community project funding since 2021
LNE Group relaunched its Federal Appropriations practice in 2021 with the return of congressional earmarks, which let lawmakers direct funds to specific projects in their districts. The tool was banned in 2011, returned a decade later, and now directs approximately $15 billion a year to state and local governments and community-serving nonprofits.
LNE Group has helped clients win over $25 million for community projects in more than a dozen states, including Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Washington, and West Virginia. This builds on a decade of advancing budget priorities for Defense Industrial Base clients across the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
