The Ohio Diesel Emissions Reduction Grant (“DERG”) Program provides funding to reduce diesel exhaust emissions, upgrade diesel fleets, and promote the use of alternative and cleaner burning fuels. The sixth round of the DERG Program is now imminent, with a request for proposals expected to be released by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) in August or September 2013.
What does this mean for you? During this upcoming round, the Ohio EPA will competitively award $10 million in federal funds for private and public sector clean diesel projects. If you are a fleet manager considering vehicle replacement, repower, retrofit, or installation of anti-idle equipment to lower your fuel costs and reduce emissions, you might be eligible for a grant award to cover a significant portion of these upgrades.
