As LNE Group’s President, Scott Owens directs all aspects of the firm’s Advocacy Operations.
Scott has translated his deep experience in government and business relations into extensive relationships with top international, federal, state, and local leaders, as well as some of the industry’s most influential executives. In serving LNE Group’s worldwide clients, Scott can consistently be found at the forefront of some of today’s most visible public policy, government funding, and economic development initiatives and global related issues.
Interested in politics since the age of 16, Scott has turned his passion into a strategic approach that allows him to work successfully at multiple levels of government and across party lines. Since joining LNE Group in 2005, Scott’s networking and project-management abilities have resulted in a long string of successes for LNE Group’s clients, including more than $250 million of economic development incentives.
At the state level, he works closely with the Governor’s Office, General Assembly, JobsOhio, and a wide range of cabinet agencies to advance legislative, regulatory, and workforce priorities. Scott has helped secure millions of dollars in local, state and federal funding and government permits on behalf of clients.
Among one of his signature achievements is his success in securing more than $25 million in total funding from the Ohio Capital Bill. Scott also successfully advocated for the passage of the county land bank bill (SB 353) on behalf of Cuyahoga County, a measure that the Ohio General Assembly passed, and the governor signed, in just five weeks.
Relationships with the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, ranking members of Congress, and The White House cabinet-level officials allowed Scott to help a municipality obtain the federal license and permits needed to construct and operate a 105-megawatt, $685 million hydro-electric facility on the Ohio River. Located at the Captain Anthony Meldahl Locks and Dam site, the project required the blessing of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Scott is currently representing an international partnership on a $12 billion chemical project that could result in up to 6,000 construction jobs in Ohio and several hundred permanent jobs. This new multibillion dollar project will be the largest of its kind in Ohio’s history.
Before joining LNE Group, Scott gained significant government relations experience in the telecommunications and financial and banking industries. In addition, he served as the Executive Director of a political organization and has extensive campaign management experience on behalf of issues and elected officials.
In his spare time, you will find him on the water boating and enjoying lake life. He also loves spending time with his family and friends, traveling, and watching college sports. He is also a big advocate and supporter of philanthropic organizations.
